Welcome!
Armenian Evangelical Brethren Church is a family-based congregation nestled in West Glendale. AEBC has had its roots in the Los Angeles area since the mid 1920s. We have a strong Armenian heritage and desire to grow together as a community in deeper relationships with God and with each other. Our mission is to know Jesus Christ and make Him known.
We are located close to the I-5 and 134 freeways. Sunday worship in the sanctuary starts 11 A.M. We welcome you for refreshments and coffee served in the Social Hall after the service each Sunday. The Gift Shop is open after the service as well. Parking available on church property and side streets in residential neighborhood. Complete a Connection Card before, during or after your visit!
Below are some frequently asked questions by visitors. If you have additional questions, please e-mail us at [email protected]
Where is the church located?
Our church is located at 1800 Lake Street in beautiful Glendale, CA! We are on the corner of Lake Street and Thompson Ave. Sunday Service starts at 11:00am in the Sanctuary.
Is everything in the Armenian language?
Our main service is mostly in Armenian. The bulletins are bilingual and the worship songs are also displayed in both English and Armenian.
Our Sunday School is in English.
What do I wear to church?
Some people like to wear their ‘Sunday best’, others prefer to dress comfortable and casual. For us, the point is not what you look like, it’s what you’re here for! Consider that the Sanctuary is kept cool during service times.
How long does your service last?
Our service is about 75 minutes. We start at 11:00am and are usually done by 12:15. Please join us in the social hall after each service for refreshments!
What do you have for my children?
We love children! For children ages Pre-School – 6th grade we have Children’s Church which starts at 11:15am on Sundays. Children join their parents/guardians in the sanctuary for the main service at 11:00am and are dismissed when “Dig-In” Starts for kids in the social hall. Parents will later join their children in the social hall after the service. “Dig-in” is a curriculum designed by Group Publishing, the same people who bring us great VBS programs. Jr. High Students have their own group and use the “Grapple” curriculum.
For younger children, we have the Family Room available during the service (located behind the sanctuary stage). The service is streamed to the screen in this room so parents can still hear and see what is going on in the service while taking care of their young ones.
Do you have communion (The Lord’s Supper)?
Yes. Every first Sunday of the month we remember and reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus paid for us on the cross. The communion service follows the main service, usually after the sermon. The pastor will give a short devotional and then we have trays of flat bread wafers and small glasses of red wine that are distributed by the deacons. We invite any person who believes in Jesus as his or her Savior to partake of the emblems as they are passed. If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we ask that you simply pass the tray to the next person. Armenian sharagans -musical system of Armenian liturgical chants–are played during the distribution of the elements.
How do I become a member?
We believe that each born-again Christian is called to be part of a local church. To help in making this important decision, AEBC offers the Discovery Membership Seminar. This class is required for all members, however it is open to all who want to explore church membership.
We are pleased to join you in prayer for specific needs. Please submit your request below. If needed, someone will be in touch with you to pray with you. God bless you as you seek His will and guidance.
